Baked Apple | Vegetable Day
Sweet and simple. That's the best way to describe this interesting twist on the classic baked apple. This recipe is brought to you by member Acc(u)Barbara.
Makes 2 servings. 1 cup of daily fruit allowance.
Ingredients
2 medium apples
Apples with deep rich flavor will work best
1 can Zevia black cherry soda
Any zero-calorie sweet fruit soda such as strawberry or raspberry will also work
Optional, cinnamon, nutmeg or other spices
Directions
Preheat oven to 350˚.
Wash apples.
Cut apples in half and remove the core.
Place apple halves in baking dish face down.
Pour soda into baking dish until apples are covered halfway.
Bake for 1 hour or until apples are soft.
Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Optional, sprinkle with spices, to taste.
